Straight Edge

Place this perfectly flat piece of steel over any 3 teeth. If any are out of joint there will be a gap. Pass a feeler gauge between this plate and a raker-tooth to check clearance. Also useful when assessing saws you are handling and might otherwise be tempted to buy because you spot their defects more quickly. It will also show any teeth set far too wide
