Ben Orford Bowl Turning Hook Flat Bottomed

Having spent a few years learning bowl turning on a pole-lathe and learning to make his own hook tools, Ben Orford now makes them for other people who want to give bowl turning a try.

This bowl hook is forged from spring steel. The cutting face is ground on both sides and is about the final 1" (25mm) of the tool. The width of the head is 10mm to 15mm. The diameter of the hook is approx 10mm. The hook has a flat bottom and bevelled top.

This tool is unhanded. The straight shaft is approx 10"-12" (250mm - 300mm) long and 1/2" (13mm) diameter. Included are simple leather sheaths to protect the cutting faces.

Also available as a starter set of 3 hooks.
